Cory Booker Height: How Tall Is the Senator?

Cory Booker’s height is widely reported at about 6 ft 3 in (roughly 191 cm) as of 2026. The New Jersey senator is a former college football player, which fits his tall, broad-shouldered frame.

Next to many colleagues in Washington, he stands out in a crowd.

Quick facts

Education and early path

Booker grew up in northern New Jersey and attended Stanford University, where he played tight end for the football team and earned his undergraduate degree. He then went to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and later earned a law degree at Yale. After law school he worked in community legal services in Newark.

Newark years

He moved into Newark’s housing and community scene and won a seat on the city council in 1998. He ran for mayor in 2002 and lost, a campaign documented in the film Street Fight, then won the office in 2006. As mayor he gained national attention for hands-on community work, social media outreach and efforts to attract investment to the city. He served until 2013.

In the Senate

In 2013 Booker won a special election to the U.S. Senate and has been re-elected since. He has served on committees dealing with foreign relations, agriculture and the judiciary, and he is known for working on criminal justice reform. The First Step Act of 2018, a bipartisan sentencing bill, counted him among its supporters.

He ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 and withdrew before the primaries began. In 2025 he gave a marathon Senate floor speech lasting over 25 hours, widely reported as the longest in the chamber’s history.

Lifestyle

Booker is known for a vegan diet and an interest in fitness, which he has talked about in interviews. He reportedly married Alexis Lewis in 2025.

Why height gets attention

Politicians’ heights are a common topic because they appear next to other leaders in photos and debates. Booker’s roughly 6 ft 3 in frame is listed in several official and press profiles, though nothing here should be taken as a formal measurement.

Newark’s most visible mayor

Booker became a familiar name well beyond New Jersey during his years as mayor. He was an early adopter of Twitter, using it to answer residents’ requests, and a widely shared story from a snowstorm saw him tweeting that he’d help shovel out anyone in need. In 2012 he was reported to have gone into a burning house to help rescue a neighbor, an episode that added to his reputation for hands-on, personal politics. Critics, for their part, have debated how much that visibility translated into lasting change for the city.

The football background

Booker played tight end at Stanford, and his size and athletic bearing are often noted when he appears alongside other senators. Former athletes in politics are not unusual, but few are as openly proud of the experience. He has talked about how football taught him about teamwork and perseverance, themes he uses in speeches.

What fans ask

The most common question, of course, is how tall he is, and the answer is about 6 ft 3 in. People also ask what he did before politics, and the short list is football, Oxford, Yale and community legal work. Others ask about the long speech in 2025, which he delivered as a protest against policies of the current administration and which lasted just over 25 hours. It drew wide attention in the press and on social media, and it’s the thing many younger readers now associate with him. He has also been open about his plant-based diet, which has become a regular talking point at events.
